CHAPTER 06

How combat works.

Learn what your stats do and how to prepare for a fight.

Your combat stats

Use the totals in your in-game stat panel when comparing builds. Level unlocks rune slots and talents.

PowerPOW
Increases the damage you deal.
AccuracyACC
Helps your attacks land against enemy Defense.
DefenseDEF
Makes enemy attacks more likely to miss. It does not reduce damage per hit.
HitpointsHP
How much damage you can take before falling.
Attack speed%
A higher bonus means less time between attacks.

Weapon traits

Your weapon’s trait adds an effect to its attacks.

Precision

Sword

Precision improves your chance to hit an enemy.

Hemorrhage

Cleaver

Hemorrhage can cause bleeding after a landed hit, dealing extra damage over time.

Executioner

Axe

Executioner deals 10% more damage while the enemy is at or below 50% hitpoints.

Concussive

Mace

Concussive can stun an enemy after a landed hit, briefly stopping their attacks.

Crushing Blow

Hammer

Crushing Blow has a 5% chance to multiply damage by 2.

Before a fight

Runes

Slots unlock at levels 10, 20, 30, 40. Matching legendary effects strengthen a rune’s activation chance, up to its limit.

Talents

Choose one talent at each milestone from level 5 to 50. Some improve combat; others improve rewards.

Companions

Your active companion adds its ability to the fight. Higher spirit levels improve the effects shown on its card.

Food & potions

Food adds its listed bonus. Choose combat potions for stronger stats and bring health potions for longer fights. See meals, unlock levels and potion effects.

Choose your opponent

Higher difficulties mean tougher enemies, sometimes with runes of their own. Check the monster and difficulty when comparing results.

Boss gauntlets

Fight through the waves before facing the boss. Hitpoints and potion cooldowns carry forward; a victory restores 15% of maximum hitpoints before the next wave.
